Two retired nuclear scientists take refuge in an isolated cottage by the sea after a disastrous tsunami causes an accident at a nearby nuclear power station. The unexpected arrival of an old friend with a frightening request asks them to ponder their own culpability in the disaster. Through laughter and tension, Kirkwood makes us ponder the responsibilities of one generation towards those that follow. She has us ask the question “What about the children?”

“…a genuinely disturbing play: one not simply about nuclear power but about the heavy price we may pay in the future for the profligacy of the present.” —Guardian (UK).

“…a richly suggestive and beautifully written piece of work…Kirkwood is the most rewarding dramatist of her generation.” —The Independent (London).
