The Hooker-Dunham Theater is a community resource available for any artistic use. The theater is operated on a cost-sharing basis with rental fees kept as low as possible commensurate with keeping it sustainable.
The Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery functions on a simple cost-sharing basis to cover costs of running the theater and making incremental improvements. The theater runs on a not-for-profit basis and has no paid managerial staff.
Each production at the theater pays a share of the annual costs. Rates are listed below. Performing groups may also schedule rehearsals, by agreement with management, at no extra cost.
The Hooker-Dunham does not offer a guarantee in return for a percentage of the house, but 100% of all proceeds flow directly to the those putting on a theater event or gallery show. The Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery promotes all events at the theater via its Newsletter (1300+ subscribers), website, Facebook page and personal outreach by theater management. Posters (supplied by the performing group or individual) for upcoming events are prominently displayed in the Hooker-Dunham street marquees. An up-to-date list of key press contacts is made available to all who use the theater.
Front-of-house, ticket sales and reservations, lights, and sound are expected to be handled by the group or individual renting the space. If personnel is needed, the Hooker-Dunham will provide contact information of responsible individuals who provide their services at low hourly rates.
The theater is one floor below street level in an old brick building built between 1897 and 1900 and is currently accessible only via stairs. We will work with organizations to find inclusive solutions.
It’s a wonderful theater! Use our contact page to let us know of your interest in the space.
