In-Sight Photography Project’s Annual Student Exhibition & Sale

at Hooker Dunham Gallery during May

With generous sponsorship by the Vermont Country Store, Windham & Windsor Housing Trust, and the Hooker Dunham Theater and Gallery, In-Sight Photography Project's Annual Student Exhibition & Sale opens at Gallery Walk on Friday, May 6, from 5:30-8:30pm. Images range from silver gelatin portraits to digitally altered inkjet prints. Exhibiting work publicly is one of the most exciting parts of students’ photographic storytelling.

In the past year, In-Sight’s local classes have served 130 students in 18 classes, 5 independent studies, and 2 partnerships – all of whom are invited to submit their best work for this show.

The Annual Student Exhibition & Sale invites the community to celebrate youths’ achievements and to understand their visions of themselves, their communities and cultures. The exhibit is open to the public on Gallery Walk on Friday, May 6, from 5:30-8:30pm and throughout May on Saturdays from 12:00-4:00pm. The gallery is also open whenever the Hooker Dunham Theater is hosting an event. Other visits may be pre-arranged with In-Sight staff by calling (802) 251-9960.

Students have taken on much of the planning and curating of this year’s event. They will host a bake sale at Gallery Walk. Student work will be for sale, and proceeds shared in a 50/50 split. In-Sight will sell notecards made from student photographs and tee-shirts with the organization’s logo (a vintage Rolleiflex camera body) to raise money for youth scholarships. (The logo conveys the organization’s commitment to traditional photographic practices and a reverence for street photography.)

The In-Sight Photography Project and its Exposures Cross-Cultural Youth Arts Program empower youth to find their own creative voices and to communicate their unique personal visions through photography. Classes in photographic arts are provided regardless of ability to pay. Curriculum is guided by understanding and respect for individuals, communities, and cultures. For more information and to sign up for summer classes, please call (802) 251-9961 or visit www.insight-photography.org.
