The Commons is Windham County’s independent newsweekly. As a non-profit, it is supported entirely by advertising, benefactors, and members. The winner of numerous awards, The Commons celebrates its tenth anniversary this year as a model of independent media. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Commons.
Andy McCord is a Manhattan poet whose work has been published in such journals as The Yale Review, Grand Street, The Paris Review, Fulcrum, and The Southwest Review. He will read poems largely based on his extensive travels through India, Pakistan, and the disputed territory of Kashmir.
MacLean Gander is professor of English and Journalism at Landmark College. His first collection of poems, The New City, was published by 21st Editions in 2007. He will read literary journalism drawn from his experiences as a reporter and writer for Newsweek in Manhattan and as a free-lancer for The Nation in Manila during the 1986 Philippine revolution.
John Rose is a professor of English at Landmark College. He will read new sections from an epic poem, two decades in the making, focused on the Watergate and Vietnam era.
